My first and only meeting with freediving legend Jacques Mayol at the 2000 DEMA Convention in New Orleans. We genuinely made a connection and he seemed sincerely impressed with my commitment to changing the diving industry for the better. I love this picture but it is bittersweet because Jacques committed suicide just over one year later. He seemed to me to be very aware of just how serious the damage is to our oceans and fully aware, as I am, that the oceans are very much on their way to being made extinct.
